It is often argued that governments should invest more money in exploring how humans could live on other planets because life on Earth might soon become impossible. Although this idea sounds reasonable, I completely disagree, as I believe that resources should be used to protect our own planet instead.
On the one hand, space exploration is extremely expensive and uncertain. Developing technology that allows people to live on another planet would take many decades and cost billions of dollars. In addition, no other planet in the solar system has the same environment as Earth, which makes long-term survival almost impossible. For example, Mars lacks oxygen and water, and humans would have to rely entirely on artificial systems to survive, which is unrealistic for large populations.
On the other hand, rather than spending huge amounts of money on risky projects, governments could focus on solving the environmental problems that make Earth less habitable. Investing in renewable energy, reducing pollution, and protecting natural resources could help ensure a sustainable future for everyone. In my opinion, it is both cheaper and more effective to fix what we already have than to try to escape from it.
In conclusion, while some people believe that we should prepare to live on other planets, I strongly disagree. The best solution for humanity is to take care of Earth before it is too late.
