Some people argue that governments should increase investment on exploring other planets such as Mars for human survival due to some environmental problems. While we cannot deny the importance of researching new places, I personally disagree with this idea because of some reasons.
To begin with, colonizing the other planets needs a lot of money. In fact, although problems such as pollution, deforestation or global warming are serious, they still are addressed via new policies and technologies. Instead of using the national budget for exploring spaces like Mars to look for survival, the government could invest in renewable resources, eco-friendly transportation and waste treatments systems which bring immediate positive impacts on the planet and people’s life.
Moreover, researching how humans can live on other planets is an unrealistic idea. This is because, in many nations, especially developing countries, there are many problems about the impoverished, degraded healthcare system and limited education needed to deal with. Therefore, people should prioritize improving such urgent issues in order to drive human development and economic growth. For example, projects about public services can create educated and health protecting opportunities for vulnerable individuals especially elderly and children to ensure higher living standards for citizens.
In conclusion, although exploring new survival planets brings benefits, I totally believe that people should concentrate on solving urgent challenges to improve environmental issues and housing for people.
