The Olympics are one of the most popular competitions where athletes can try their best to get rewards or just want to show off their strength in the sport as a reward for their efforts. Thus, the Olympics is an opportunity that athletes really want to participate in and bring glory to their country. However, it has been suggested that the Olympics should be held in a permanent location. Personally, I partially agree with this statement for a number of reasons that will be explained further in this essay.
There are several reasons why the Olympics offer huge advantages, which explains why it should be held in different locations each time. The Olympics benefit both individuals and the country. First of all, the Olympics is a place where athletes want to show their talent, and also give them the opportunity to be proud of their country. Regarding the country, the Olympics boost its reputation and raise a significant amount of money from ticket sales, hotel stays, and transportation services, which contributed to pushing tourism in that area to new levels.
In contrast, not all organization can bring revenue benefits to the country. For example, a competition similar to the Olympics is the World Cup, Qatar spent more than 200 billion USD to organize it in 2022, but only earned about 17 billion USD. Those who argue the disadvantages of holding Olympics in different city each time point to the benefits of Olympics being in one place. Firstly, a significant sum of money is required for the Olympics to plan and construct stadiums, hotels, and other services for competitors and spectators. For instance, hosting of the 2012 London Olympics cost more than 40 billion pounds. In addition, when the game was over, the majority of the sporting facilities constructed in the cities that had hosted events were useless. Numerous sources claim that these facilities have either closed or been destroyed.
In conclusion, I believe that moving the Olympics to a permanent site is an excellent plan. The same facilities might be utilized repeatedly if the Olympics were hosted in one location. Having a permanent home for the Olympics is the most economically efficient way to stage this important event.
