While working for yourself is seen by some as a positive development, offering numerous opportunities for independence instead of finding jobs in the company, I believe it constitutes a host of significant shortcomings, ranging from financial constraints to inadequate time for rest. This paragraph will explore the grounds of my opinion in the following paragraphs.
On the one hand, independence constitutes a major advantage and warrants attention. The first ground for believing that the freedom to single-handedly make a decision enables individuals to have their own rules, work schedule and workflow. To illustrate, for entrepreneurs, if they had to work diligently for extended hours, they would freely make up their minds whenever they could start working the next morning, which in turn enhances flexibility in work. Without being employed by someone else, many restrictions that previously seemed insurmountable have been potentially overcome. There is tremendous room for creativity that is not to be disruptive and against by some executives. Resultantly, these preconceptions served as catalysts for multiple potential large-scale projects shortly. Conversely, higher-ups sometimes disregard their suggestions in businesses because employees may like a cog in the machine.
Nonetheless, the arduous challenges associated with self-employment cannot be dismissed. One of the most pressing issues besetting business owners is the financial constraints. This drawback stems from the expenses for running costs, salary, and other unforeseen situations. One clear example is in the early stage, founders, who want to set up a business, need to put in lots of strenuous effort in order to persuade investors or banks for capital, which is desperately not easy to ensure success later. Therefore, the imminent risk is bankruptcy when businesses are unable to pay the debts or incur a loss without strategic planning as well as a clear vision. In comparison with being an employee in a concern, they have a stable income, even insurance, which is suitable for those having family obligations. Another significant challenge is the inadequate time for rest resulting from running a business by yourself. It is often attributable to working around the clock and the feeble adherence to proper daily routines. Consequently, the incidence of health problems such as spinal diseases and stress tends to intensify as the business is always there in the back of entrepreneurs’ minds, leading to constant work and pressure from workload. By contrast, a nine-to-five job in a company allows employees to bounce ideas off colleagues, thereby sharing the volume of work and enabling them to achieve work-life balance.
In conclusion, while working for yourself offers substantial opportunities, its challenges are immense but not insurmountable. Through consolidated efforts, effective management and clear strategies, it is possible to create a business that not only succeeds but also thrives.
