It was predicted that as a result of advancements in technology, people’s free time would significantly rise in the twenty-first century. But given that corporations and people alike must now make significant efforts to keep up with the rapid and continuous advancements in technology, I believe this estimate to be wholly unrealistic.
People need to set aside time to study new technology in today’s environment of rapid change. People who stay in the same old ways and make their living just on the knowledge and abilities they learned in college will eventually run out of employment because they are unable to keep up with the current advancements in workplace technology. As a result, individuals can no longer afford to just unwind and rest after work; instead, they must make time to learn new things in order to be relevant in the modern world.
In order for businesses to remain competitive in the market, they must also continuously develop their goods and services. Consider the car industry, for example. Traditional automakers now have the difficult challenge of putting in significant effort to change their supply chains and production processes in order to create electric vehicles, as Tesla has revolutionized the industry with its inventive electric automobiles. Employees working eight hours a day, five days a week, will not be able to complete this hard change quickly.
In conclusion, the speed at which technology is developing has drastically slowed down people’s free time since, in order to be competitive in this always changing environment, both individuals and organizations must work ceaselessly to keep up with these innovations.
