In today’s world, the diminishing availability of fresh water is becoming an increasingly significant issue. Although seventy percent of the Earth is covered by water, only fifteen percent of that is suitable for human consumption. This essay will discuss the problems associated with this issue and suggest measures to address them, along with relevant examples.
The primary problem is the lack of access to clean drinking water in many regions. There are numerous countries where communities do not have access to an adequate supply of safe, clean water and are forced to rely on contaminated sources, which can lead to health complications. For instance, Dahab, a town in Egypt, experiences drought every summer, forcing residents to depend on water tanks to meet their needs. As a result, they pay more money for less water.
To address this issue, several measures need to be implemented. First and foremost, water consumption should be managed wisely to minimize waste. Additionally, governments should construct special wells in areas with specific climates, allowing residents to refill their water supplies as needed. For example, in my locality where groundwater is limited, our community has decided to collect rainwater for agricultural use. This approach can significantly reduce the challenges related to water scarcity.
In conclusion, the challenges posed by the scarcity of usable water can be mitigated by the solutions discussed. It is crucial to preserve this valuable resource at all costs.
