Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my disappointment with your campaign where you advertise your environmentally friendly production and my disappointment with a purchase I made.
To begin this letter, I want to highlight the importance of sustainable products and why I decided in the first place to make this purchase. Climate change and the exploitation of workers are two of the most concerning issues in today’s world. It is evident that these two problems need to be addressed in a sensible way. At this point with rapid developments and no improvements in sight, it is the duty of any responsible citizens to help. However, providing help for the people who are desperate for it is difficult for an individual. Rarely is there an opportunity to help, purchasing fair trade and sustainable products is one such golden opportunity. This is, as you are yourself aware, reason enough to justify a buy. When my product arrived, however, I was suspicious right away, my research confirmed this suspicion, there is evidence that this company is trying to greenwash their products. Considering the reasons why I bought this product, this campaign is violating both my customers’ rights and marketing rights. As mentioned above, your campaign is part of the product, therefore I didn’t receive the product I have bought. On a broader marketing scale such a misleading campaign is giving this company an unfair edge over its competitors, this is highly illegal. Nevertheless, I want to finish this letter with a piece of advice. Although most of your customers are not aware of your misleading campaign, you have violated their rights. At this point it is already too late to change this aspect; however, it is not too late to do something good. Therefore, I suggest you donate half of your revenue, created by these sales, to the institutions you advertised to help in your marketing campaign. I hope you will take this matter seriously.
Yours sincerely,
Julius
