In an age of globalization, the conservations surrounding digital libraries have become a common topic worth keeping in mind. An ongoing debate regarding whether this is superior to the traditional one in terms of saving money has been born. This essay will voice my opinion why I strongly disagree with this phenomenon.
Admittedly, one might argue that online libraries are more diverse and easier to access as they contain a lot of documents. Hence, people can have more choices and comparisons before deciding to read the books. However, this line of reasoning is not clear because customers would gain viruss or threats if they downloaded files from illegal resources which could attack and rob their personal details. Misunderstandings and uncensor information are also significant issues to consider due to the fact that a myriad of documents were born without verifies or arrangements, compared to the traditional libraries, which were selected carefully and can avoid potential hazards.
There are also further rationales that explain why physical libraries should be maintained. The most crucial and sustainable factor of which is the supplement of public area or environment to study. These advantages are good enough that many students and white collar workers usually come here after working hours to finish their deadlines. Additionally, many senior citizens utilize reading as a habit in their free time to relax, but digital platforms seem to harm their eyes or eventually cause eyestrain, which could make the entertainment disappear with them. Moreover, the elderly could find it easy to approach and select through physical activities in the traditional libraries, instead of interaction and using a new platform.
In conclusion, although the application of technology is undeniable, I am fully convinced by the older one due to aforementioned reasons above.
