In this age of industrialization, the lack of housing and demand for good life quality with facilities has reinforced urbanlization. There are some people who contend that expanding the residental area can fullfil the people’s needs. However, others argue that this trend can bring negative impact on the environment and agriculture. I am of the opinion that new housing developments are necessary for mankind, but the government should make policies so it can’t affect the environment and farmland.
On the one hand, urbanlization have been risen noticably due to population growth. In other words, there will be a high demand for accomodation. Therefore, the residental area will have to expand to prevent the lack of housing. Also, in this boom of moderlization, people will seek for higher life quality regarding the facilities and services around their houses. For this reason, they will prefer to live in cities, and a high demand for accomodation in a city have led to urbanlization. This pattern can be seen in developing countries with the number of city have been soared significanty in recent decades. This adds credence to the point that the housing developments have to be carried out to solve the problems in population growth and good life quality requirement.
Turning to an alternative viewpoint, critics of this trend believe that the environment and farmland will be affected badly. Firstly, there will be lack of green space for trees and animals. To be more specific, the trees in the parks provide fresh air and peaceful environment to reduce the stress. Henceforth, if parks are replaced by houses, it might create more pollution because of the density in an area without any green space. In addition, the agriculture also suffer due to this trend. In other words, since the farms that adopt technology and ne methods in urban area can’t provide enough foods and supplies for people, especially in this boom of population, the shrink of farmlands will bring several issues for both residents and governments. This evidence support the view that this trend can bring disadvantages to people’s lives.
In conclusion, I think that to provide accomodations and facilities for the residents, urbanlization should be continued, but with a suitable approach and limitation. Specifically, there should be policies to limit the urbanlization and the location of housing developments.
