Nowadays, many students choose to take a gap year before going to university. Some of them use this time for travel and exploration, while others use it in another way, such as trying to work and gain experience. In my view, this could be a good idea to take a short time before starting university, with both of those ways. In this essay, I will discuss each of them.
Filling time with traveling might be a good idea because, after a long time of education, they need a short time for relaxing, socializing, and resting. This way gives them a chance to plan their future with an open and relaxed mind. On the other hand, they should notice that they don’t overdose on this fun and travel because they may stray from the main path of their life and lose their priority, and in that situation, it is a waste of time.
Gaining work experience is also another way of filling this gap. This way is definitely the perfect idea because, before you choose your main career and main course field of study, you have an opportunity to try and assess it, and also gain more experience in it. In addition, this situation brings more independent space and even independent income, so they should notice that this choice doesn’t take them away from the main purpose of their education.
To conclude, in my view, having a gap year before starting university is a good idea because it gives you a good chance to, based on your priorities, fill them with travel or work experience. Each of them has its advantages, like a relaxed mind in line with travel and making a good decision for the university field in line with having work experience. But both of them should be controlled in the way of their main purpose to prevent being a waste of time.
