In recent years, the amount of supermarkets, selling products imported from foreign producers has being increased due to globalization and many benefits, which gaining supermarkets by trading wide diversity of products. Although, this trend has inevitable disadvantages, such as huge differents in prices between local and imported goods, I strongly believe that in general the tendency leads to positive development. This essay will explain reasons and positive sides of this trend.
One of the significant reasons why supermarkets start sell non-local products is improvement in international relations in trading sphere. This tendency arises, because of globalization, meaning huge development in communicative networks and other technologies, contributing in better contact between countries. Recent studies show that in the last 40 years the number of goods in markets, which was imported from other countries has risen by 550%. Furthermore, selling foreign products is more benefitial strategy than having only local products due to increased demand for imported ones. It happens because of lack of diversity in local products, for example, most of tropical fruits are not growing in north countries, but people want to have high variety of all products. Henceforth, it becomes more and more popular to sell imported goods.
Additionally, this trend also leads to positive developments, such as improvement in quality of nutrition, which is also leads to better physical and mental health for people. Firstly, in absolutely every country, where sun shines much less in winter, people have serious deficit of vitamin D, leading to health problems starting with worse condition of skin ending with depression. In this case, people can purchase fruits and vegetables with high proportion of vitamin D imported from south countries. Furthermore, recent observations show that now people have 60% less diseases causing by deficite of vitamins and minerals than 100 years ago. Consequently, more and more people can gain profit by buying imported products.
In conclusion, there are numerous reasons for supermarkets to sell foreign goods from globalization to huge demand. Despite the fact that it is not ideal system, I firmly believe that positive sides prevail above negative ones and in future the popularity of this tendency will increase only.
