Band 8+: Most of the urgent problems can only be solved with international cooperation. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s world, due to strong interconnections among countries, many serious problems show their influence in more than one major country at the same time. Therefore, it is argued that international cooperation is the best way to solve urgent global problems. I agree with this opinion as, nowadays, it is hard to handle modern challenges successfully by acting alone.

Firstly, one major problem which requires interconnections among countries is environmental damage. Global issues such as climate change and air pollution are not limited by national borders. For instance, harmful emissions released in one country can cause harm to the environment and the health of residents in other countries. Thus, these problems can be solved more effectively if nations work together by setting shared laws and environmental standards.

Another essential field in which worldwide collaboration is needed is public health and safety. The frequent spread of infectious diseases shows how quickly problems can move from one country to another. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, countries had to cooperate by sharing medical data and distributing vaccines worldwide. Without such collaboration, the virus would have caused even greater damage, proving that it is inefficient to manage global health crises by individual nations.

Finally, a financial crisis in one major country can negatively affect the economies of other countries. By working in groups, governments can reduce economic risks and support struggling nations. In addition, natural, economic, and health-related disasters are urgent emergencies that exceed the capacity of individual countries, making international cooperation necessary.

In conclusion, I agree that most urgent global problems can only be effectively solved through international cooperation. Since issues such as environmental damage, health crises, and economic instability affect many countries at once, group-based actions are essential.
