Band 7+: Most of the urgent problems can only be solved with international cooperation. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is an argument that today’s most acute issues can only be solved by global cooperation rather than by countries acting on their own. I strongly agree that today’s most pressing situations have to be tackled by international alliances. This essay will support my opinion with examples.

One major reason I agree with this view is that because the world is currently in the era of globalization, every country needs to develop and adapt to keep up with the changes. Most of the problems nowadays have been resolved thanks to the cooperation between countries, which would have taken years or even decades if every country had worked on its own. For example, a few years ago, Covid-19 was considered a catastrophe. The epidemic was so serious that some countries ran out of supplies and food staples, even hundreds of lives were lost to the disease. Countries realized they should take action and that was when international collaborations were needed the most. Countries helped one another by transporting supplies such as food and aid, while those with high and advanced healthcare systems began developing vaccinations for those in need. As a result, the problem was addressed successfully and now everyone can live without constant worrying.

Another reason for my argument is the effectiveness that international alliance brought. The synergy between countries can bring enormous benefits such as pooling resources and knowledge transfer, with this, countries can tackle the root of a problem and also alleviate the chance of it occurring again. For instance, climate change such as droughts, rise in sea levels, etc. A country alone can not solve those problems, and it seems more impossible for underdeveloped countries. That is why every country needs global cooperation to improve and change. By sharing resources and knowledge, these problems can be addressed more easily and quickly, along with increasing effectiveness.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly agree that today’s problem has to be solved through international cooperation, as it encourages countries to improve and become more advanced. By adapting to the pace of globalization and cooperating to keep the effectiveness has diminished the burden for a country to bear.
