While it is believed by some people that experiments on animals should not be allowed, others support them because of their benefits to humans. This essay aims to analyze both sides of the argument before expressing my own opinion.
There are several reasons why animal experiments should be encouraged. To begin with, animal testing not only helps scientists understand how viruses and diseases function, but also allows the development of vaccines and medical treatments that protect people from diseases. For example, experiments on COVID-19 vaccines conducted on monkeys played a crucial role in protecting people from a devastating pandemic in the past. In addition, from a scientific perspective, many animals have biological systems that are similar to those of humans, which makes medical testing more effective and reliable. All in all, animal experimentation is essential for discovering effective medicines and treatment methods.
On the other hand, many people strongly oppose animal experiments because serious pain and suffering are inflicted on
living animals. For example, after drugs are tested on mice, they are often observed for a period of time and then dissected to check the results. As a result, such experiments are considered unethical and should be stopped. In addition, some people believe that animals and humans have different biological systems. Therefore, testing medicines on animals may produce results that are not exact, making these experiments ineffective and unnecessary.
In conclusion, both opinions have their own merits. I believe that animal testing should be allowed under strict regulations, as some species play an important role in science, which contributes to human life.
