Present day, individuals of a family spend less amount of time with people of other generations within the family. This essay will outline the reasons and their negative effects over family bonds.
To begin with, there are several reasons for this action. Firstly, various generations have different understanding of spare time. To exemplify, an individual from gen X would probably read the newspaper at free time; on the other hand, a person from gen Z or gen A would go and meet with his or her friends and spend their spare time together. Secondly, occasionally older generations criticise younger individuals’ daily habits, which would eventually lead to less spare time spent within the family.
In addition, this action has several drawbacks in family bonds. At first, weakened interaction and activities with family members would lead to being asocial, which is an absolutely drastic drawback in today’s society. Since, individuals cannot freely communicate with their closest ones’, they would eventually have problems doing so with others. Lastly, individuals would be ignorant to cultural norms of their community or even their country. To be specific, older generations have great understanding of culture, and culture is a thing that is passed down from generation to generation by elders. When young individuals ignore elders’ call to teach them those cultural norms, they would at last become ignorant to this culture.
In conclusion, difference in mind and change in efficient spending of spare time lead to individuals’ less time spending within the family, which has several drawbacks to the family and younger generations that have been mentioned above.
