Many young people are damaging public places on purpose these days. This essay argues that this issue stems from the bad effect that media brings and the urges to show their creative side to the public. To address this, it is suggested that parents and governments take actions with providing the necessary supervision and measures it need.
More and more young people are consuming movies and television shows regularly these days. This means that they are exposed to myriad contents from all around the world, whether they are of exemplary actions or the improper ones, leading them to copying these actions in real life. Furthermore, the lack of creative spaces for young people to do their arts also contributes to the damaging of public places. Since they need a space to channel their artistic side, a lot of art communities choose to do street painting, where they draw graffiti or painting in public facilities such as parks or bridges.
Solutions to these worrying problems depend on the parental and the governmental role. Parents should be wary of what type of contents are consumed by their children as to prevent the negative impacts it may bring. They can apply parental restrictions on their children’s gadget and supervise them from time to time. Additionally, the government can conduct collaboration with young people such as a renovating the park or the bridge. By provisioning them the proper place to accommodate their needs, these people will not damage the public places with their street paintings since they already have its designated place to do that.
In conclusion, the main issues contributing to the deliberate damage of public places are the influence of shows and the lack of open spaces that allows them to channel their creativity. These problems can be solved with the supervision of parents and collaboration with local government.
