Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerned about the connection and interaction between people under the effect of the development of modern technology. Compared with the traditional physical meeting in reality, today people prefer to reach others through the Internet, like telephone, Facebook, or live video calls. Of course, the appearance of new technology has brought us a lot of advantages in our lives and provides more convenience and opportunities to maintain a relationship, while this also causes several critical problems in today’s society. In my opinion, this is a positive development and has more advantages.
First, it is obvious that new technology like high-speed data transmitting technology provides us a chance to talk with anyone living in different places on this planet. For example, people from different areas can also meet and exchange opinions on social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. So, new technology has offered us more opportunities to start a relationship and maintain a long-distance connection.
Moreover, a relationship always starts from a physical binding, like with your family members, neighbors, classmates, or other relatives. Because in our whole we can only meet constantly numbers of people and begin a relationship with a part of them. However, through the current social media, such as X, Instagram, and online communities, we can easily know and get in touch with a lot of people.
This is not to say that new technology does not have any passive impact on people’s relationships. Of course, due to the richness and variety of the virtual world, people are spending more time in the virtual world and ignoring the feelings of the closest person. But, today more and more people are keen to restrict their screen time and try to spend more time with their family and friends.
