Obesity is one of the most cruicial problems that societies and governments face with in recent years. If this issue is not taken care of and resolved as soon as possible, there will be irreversable consequences for both governments and the society.
First of all, what we need to do to resolve this problem is to determine the causes. It’s possible to say that technological developments result in indolence since technological devices, machines and artificial intelligence are capable of doing almost everything human beings can do. Consequently, individuals prefer accomplishing more with less effort. Thus, the lack of movement and effort in daily life cause weight gain. One of the other reasons is the increase in the consumption of fast food. Individuals prefer fast food to healthy and well-prepared meals as fast food is cheaper and not time consuming. In addition, genetically modified foods are additional cause. It’s obvious that these foods are not healthy or nutritious. However, it’s almost impossible to find organic foods nowadays therefore individuals have a propensity and obligation for consuming genetically modified foods.
So, what can be done to prevent and overcome obesity? Both governments and individuals have responsibilities to take about this problem. First of all, the governments need to educate people about obesity and harmful, deadly effects of it. On the other hand, individuals have to take care of their bodies. As long as they don’t do their parts, there’s nothing governments can do. Individuals should exercise more and become more active as much as they can. Eating healthy is the other vital habit that people hould have to avoid obesity.
In conclusion, there are lots of things both individuals and governments can and have to do to reduce obesity rate. Otherwise, we’ll keep being an obese and unhealthy society.
