Band 8+: People still value artists in the age of advanced science and technology. what are the reasons? Are arts as important as science and technology?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s digital age, although technology and science have rapidly advanced and dominated people’s lives, artists still play a crucial role in various aspects of human life, such as preserving culture and improving mental well-being. That is why, in my opinion, the arts hold the same significance as science and technology.

People’s enthusiasm for immersing themselves in cultures is one of the main factors that contribute to artists having a remarkable level of esteem in this age. It is clear that arts, such as music with rich lyrics and paintings that have remained from the past, are a driving force behind the connection with bygone cultures, so people continue to follow different kinds of arts. Another major reason for valuing the arts is their ability to assist people in unwinding after undergoing nerve-racking periods of hard work or study. For instance, when people listen to music, they can release all the negative energy, leading to reduced stress and a calmer mind, which can help to promote emotional well-being.

Although I acknowledge that the advancements in science and technology have revolutionized people’s lives, it is vitally important to be aware that these advancements would not have been possible without the influence of the arts. Undoubtedly, if society aims to enhance the level of science and technology, it must prioritize fostering citizens with healthy mental states to meet the needs of society. For this reason, individuals can engage in activities related to the arts, such as listening to music, painting, or writing, to improve their quality of life and alleviate mental tension. So, all three of them hold equal value.

All of this being said, despite advancements in technology and science turning the world upside down, the arts can maintain their position, as it is of utmost importance for people to decrease the level of anxiety to enhance their quality of life. Meanwhile, they have a passion for connecting with their cultures by pursuing a wide range of arts.
