Band 6+: prison is the most effective punishment for people who break the laws. To what extent do you agree or disagree ?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In this contemporary epoch, it is widely asserted that the most effective way for citizens who break the regulations is by sentencing them to prison. Although imprisonment can serve as a deterrent and a means of protecting society, I firmly believe that this should not be the case. Soft measures can be taken out such as rehabilitation and re-educated solutions can sometimes yield better outcomes.

Admittedly, one might argue that by sentencing lawbreakers to prison, the society will gain its harmony. This is due to the fact that this is because prisons prevent criminals from harming others and act as a deterrent to potential lawbreakers. For instance, people who witness the harsh conditions of imprisonment may be discouraged from committing crimes themselves. Furthermore, imprisonment provides a sense of justice for victims and helps preserve social order. However, this argument overlooks the fact that prisons often fail to rehabilitate offenders. Many inmates reoffend after their release, demonstrating that prison life does not always change their behavior but may instead harden them into more dangerous individuals.

To add further credence to my assertion, not all cases should be treated the same. The ministry should consider how serious the crimes are, thereby deciding if they should banish them into prison or re-educated. To illustrate, stealing phones and committing killing should not get the similar treatment. Furthermore, instead of sending dwellers, especially minors to prison, which is surrounded by a bloody environment, a re-educated solution seems more practical as it helps young petty thieves realise what is the rightful thing to do. Allocating sustainable finance on a re-educated program not only relieves the national budget, but also dodges the diver resources from critical sectors such as health care and education. For instance, Norway’s humanitarian policy often offers a chance to rehabilitate and subsidies to people who commit crimes, which is way more effective than punishment. To many extent, punishment not always be effective than educational purpose measures.

To encapsulate, judgment should not always be the cases, it depends on the situation whether serious or light commitment. I believe that educational progams will always be effective in educating lawbreakers.
