These days, it is said that there is a population growth in megacities exceeding 20 million residents. Although it may lead to detrimental effects on environment, I think it is a great way for city development.

The increase in population has a positive impact on civilization as it carries out unprecedented changes in that city, such as a lot of modern residential areas, recreational facilities, or extensive number of touristic places, which are the sign of modernization, would be created. For example, if the majority of people reside in urban areas, the demand for medical services, restaurants, shopping centers would increase, and it is also helpful for country’s economy, because people’s expenses in that areas would be profit for government.

On the other hand, that said, those who think this is a negative that population growth may cause environmental problems, like air pollution, water pollution, and negative effects on the ozone layer. Most people have a tendency of throwing their rubbish or litter into water, street, and green spaces. For instance, researchers show that now the environmental issues are more than in the past, so the expansion in fact-free numbers can cause severe problems for people, leading to detrimental health problems such as cancer or pulmonary diseases.

In conclusion, I believe that since the population is increasing significantly in megacities, many improvements have been made while its negative impacts.
