There is a growing trend where a large number of rural residents are moving to city areas across the world nowadays. While this can be largely attributed to better education and access to healthcare. I believe that the problem can be effectively addressed by improving rural education and healthcare to support village inhabitants to stay there.
One compelling reason why many residents of the countryside often move to cities is better education opportunities in industrialised areas. With improved education, schools, learning centres and other areas located in cities providing more advanced learning systems, individuals from rural areas relocate in search of more developed education systems that fit their needs and desires. This, in turn, can lead to overcrowding in city regions, causing more congestion, personal services and other problems. Another factor contributing to this problem extends beyond advanced education to access to healthcare centres. As urban regions provide more developed healthcare centres, trained experts and more recreational places, village inhabitants are unsurprisingly inclined to move to have such possibilities. A perfect case in point would be Samarkand, a more industrialised region, where several individuals from the rural areas move every year to get to better healthcare centres. Therefore, improved learning and better access to healthcare centres can be the most driving forces behind why many people relocate to urban areas.
To tackle the growing issue of population shift to cities, it is imperative for the country and the administration to take decisive action by developing learning systems and healthcare centres in villages. Given that rural inhabitants find it difficult to have more industrialised schools, learning centres and more advanced healthcare facilities, investing in children’s education and healthcare will make rural areas more desirable for residents. To ensure effective implementation, the government should support politicians to work with the countryside region, improve the learning and medical sectors by attracting more experts, while constructing well-structured buildings and providing more advanced transport systems in the rural regions. By doing these, village inhabitants feel no need to move to urban areas when they have equal social and economic possibilities as in urban regions.
