Discipline is an important part of raising children because it helps them learn rules, values, and responsibility. Some people believe that smacking children is the most effective way to control and teach lessons.I completely disagree with this view because physical punishment often causes more harm than good.
Some people argue that quickly stops .They think children will fear punishment and so observe rules more carefully. Some parents also say it worked when they were young, so they consider it normal and efficient. For instance, a child might stop touching dangerous objects after being smacked once, or behave quietly in class to avoid punishment.Smacking is seen as a fast and simple solution to discipline problems.
However, some people believe smacking is ineffective and damaging.Physical punishment can create fear, anger, and mistrust rather than real understanding. It does not teach children why their behaviour is wrong or how to improve it.So, non-violent methods such as talking, setting clear rules, and using consequences are more helpful in the long term.
This essay argued both for and against smacking as a disciplinary method. In my opinion, I completely disagree that smacking is the best way to discipline children, because calm guidance and positive strategies build respect and better behaviour over time.
