Band 7+: Small, independent shops will have no place in the future. To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Due to the impact of globalization, various facets have been transformed, one of them being consumer behaviors. Shopping centers are intended to supplant traditional local retailers as they bring a better experience to residents and enhance the collection of taxes efficiently for the government. From my perspective, this trend is welcoming and I totally agree with this development.

Massive superstores can provide a better experience for residents than nearby shops. Chain stores can offer a wide range of products by displaying them in a more varied manner since they have more space than small grocery stores. Additionally, it appeals to consumers who seek convenience and a diverse variety of choices in their shopping and entertainment options. As large stores have a big area, they will import items in bulk, which lowers prices and benefits consumers. Therefore, corner shops cannot generate significant tax revenue for the government as the centers as.

On top of that, the ease of online shopping with home delivery proposed by substantial shops can enhance the appeal for busy people. Online shopping provides consumers with the convenience of shopping from anywhere at any time, eliminating the need to physically visit a store. With just a few clicks, consumers can browse through a vast range of products, compare prices, read reviews, and make purchases. The option of home delivery further adds to the convenience, as consumers can have their purchases delivered right to their doorstep. Large corporations with extensive resources and logistics capabilities often excel in providing efficient and reliable online shopping experiences. They invest in robust e-commerce platforms, secure payment gateways, and fast delivery networks, ensuring that consumers receive their orders in a timely manner. This aspect has contributed to the growing dominance of large corporations in the e-commerce space and has presented a challenge to small, independent shops, including corner shops, which may struggle to compete with the convenience and resources of these larger entities.
