Band 7+: Solving environmental problems should be the responsibility of international organization rather than each national government. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

While environmental problems have become a global concern, some people believe that they should be solved by national countries instead of international organization. However, I strongly disagree with this perspective because each country should take the main responsibility for tackling environmental issues.

Firstly, national governments are more familiar with the specific environmental challenges which happen in their territory. Environmental issues vary significantly among countries, depending on geography. For instance, while some countries struggle with air pollution, others face serious problems like deforestation and water contamination. As a result, local governments are in the best position to come up with suitable solutions based on their unique conditions.

Secondly, national governments have the legal and politic power to enforce environmental laws and policies. They can introduce regulations and impose taxes on polluting companies and encourages environmentally friendly behaviors through education and public campaigns. On the other hand, global organizations often lack the authority to force countries to take actions. Their role is usually limited to giving advice and promote international cooperation, including encouraging countries to work together in tackling environmental problems cross borders like climate change and ocean pollution.

In conclusion, while international organizations play a supportive role, I believe that solving environmental problems should primarily be the responsibility of individual nations. Their local knowledge and authority make them best equipped to address these challenges effectively within their borders.
