Band 6+: Solving environmental problems should be the responsibility of international organization rather than each national government. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some people argue that counteracting environmental issues should be responsibility of an international organization rather than each national government. While I can sympathize with both sides of argument, I fundamentally believe that local governments are an essential component of environmental protection and should be maintained for environmental and economical purposes.

To begin with, the first and foremost reason for importance of governments is that they can protect effectively environmental damage which is occur in their territory. To be more specific, governments can observe some environmental issues easily, as environmental damages are different for each countries. For instance, some areas are suffering by deforestation, air pollution and lack of sanitation could be concern in developing countries. National governments are better positioned to implement tailored solutions and encourage environmental regulations within their borders. A single international organization may struggle to address this localized issues, as it cannot fully understand or prioritize the unique needs of each nations. Furthermore, relying solely on international organization can lead to delays and bureaucratic inefficiency, requiring agreement among member states before taking action, which can slow down urgent interventions. In contrast government can act immediately by introducing policies, such as renewable energy incentives, pollution taxes, or public awareness campaigns.

Despite above-mentioned arguments, I claim that international organizations play a crucial role in fostering collaboration and sharing expertise. Issues like climate change, ocean pollution, and ozone depletion can transcend national boundaries and require coordinated global action Therefore, while global organizations can facilitate cooperation and provide guidance, the primary responsibility should remain with national governments, as they have the authority, resources, and local knowledge to implement effective solutions.

In conclusion, although international cooperation is indispensable, environmental protection is primarily the duty of each national government. Relying solely on global organizations is neither practical nor efficient, and a combined approach with national leadership remains the most effective strategy.
