Transportation infrastructure has always been a crucial aspect of modern life. Some people are of the opinion that the government should enhance roads and highways by investing more funds to facilitate economic activities; however, I totally agree with those who believe that this money should be invested in public transport systems to reduce pollution.
On the one hand, those who advocate for increased spending on roads and highways point out the critical role that these networks play in facilitating economic activity. This means high-quality roads are essential for the efficient movement of goods and services, which are vital for trade and industry sections. Since most of the factories and industrial parts are located in rural areas, by enhancing roads, the movement of trucks and lorries can be simplified significantly. Moreover, for many people, especially those who are living in rural and suburban areas, driving is the most practical and sometimes the only mode of transportation available. Therefore, maintaining and expanding the road network is seen as a crucial matter.
On the other hand, proponents of public transportation argue that it offers more sustainable and economic benefits. Public transport systems, such as buses, trains, and subways, can transfer large numbers of people efficiently, reducing traffic congestion and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, different types of pollution produced by private cars would be reduced in the near future. In addition, a well-developed transportation system can contribute to stimulating economic development by making cities more attractive to people, especially tourists, which can draw in investments and boost local economies. For instance, in Istanbul, there are various types of transportations, helping citizens and tourists to explore the city.
In conclusion, although some people think investments in expanding roads and highways can facilitate transferring goods and enhance the economy, I absolutely agree with the others who argue that spending money to develop public transportation in cities is more significant due to reducing of pollution and boosting the economies of urban areas.
