Band 5+: Some believe that students should begin learning a language very early in school while others think these subjects should be taught later.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, there has been an an ongoing debate whether students should start learning a language from a young age or they must be taught later on. While some individuals argue that students should start focusing on languages very early in school, others believe that these subjects should be taught later. This essay will discuss both these perspectives before presenting my own viewpoint.

On the one hand, encouraging students to begin learning any language is essential as it enhances their critical thinking and makes them more intelligent. At a younger age, students are more receptive and able to mimic pronunciation and absorb vocabulary effortlessly, often without the self-consciousness that older learners face. Furthermore, introducing languages early cna reinforce brain development, improve memory, and foster multitasking abilities. Countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden, where children initiate language learning in primary school, often outperform others in language proficiency tests, providing strong support for this view.

On the other hand, some people argue that young learners should first master their native language and basic academic skills before taking on the complexity of an additional language.
