It is often argued that tourism causes conflict among different cultures instead of promoting cultural exchange. I fully agree with this view for several reasons.
To begin with, a paramount reason why the disagreements arise stems from the fact that citizens display prejudice towards other traditional customs because of globalization. To put it another way, since a vast majority of people do not show tolerance to dissimilar lifestyles, which is become culturel barriers. Consequently, people’s perspectives remain narrow, making it difficult for them to understand different ways of life . As a consequence, valuable traditions may gradually disappear instead of being passed down from one generation to the next. As a result, even the existing culture cannot share to future generations if they continue in this behavior.
Furthermore, some individuals hold negative stereotype about foreign customs, which make it difficult for them to appreciate unfamiliar traditions and interact positively with people form other cultures. Goverments should encourage cultural exchange through tourism. In this way this policy exposes citizens to diversity, it is more likely to create some tension at first ; however, they will become accustomed to it over time. Therefore, tourism not only contributes to economic growth but also strengthens cultural ties between nations.
In conclusion, although contact between different cultures may initially lead to tension, governments should adopt effective policies to minimise these conflicts. By encouraging mutual respect and cultural awareness, tourism can strengthen international relationships while preserving valuable traditions for future generations.
