There is no doubt that the issue of subjects such as mathematics and philosophy are difficult is still widely debated, with some individuals claiming that this subjects ought to be optional instead of compulsory. Personally, i disagree with that the mathematics and philosophy should be optional and i will explain why.
Firstly, mathematics teaches to enhance critical thinking even though it is tough for students and they have to learn it. As this subject defines the basic concepts of adolescents, it should be mandatory. For example, the ability of solving problems improves when students learn more about mathematics. However, despite being theoretical subject, philosophy is the essence for all students.
A further reason to consider is that these subjects help students achieve their career goals despite some difficulties. Since many countries offer job opportunities for graduates in fields like mathematics and philosophy, studying these subjects can be beneficial. For instance, many educated individuals remain unemployed despite having a degree. If they had studied essential subjects such as mathematics and philosophy, they might have found jobs more easily. Additionally, while these subjects may seem challenging, they should be prioritized in educational institutions. As a result, unemployment rates could decrease, which is crucial for society, while the number of employed individuals would increase.
Overall, I believe that mathematics and philosophy are essential for securing employment and enhancing critical thinking skills, making it necessary to include them as core subjects.
