Band 5+: some governments say how many children a family can have in their country. they may countrol the number of children someone has through taxes. it is sometimes necessary and right for a government to control the population in this way. do you agree or disagree?

Maintaining a sufficient number of working people is absolutely necessary for a nation to run properly. To have an appropriate number of working people in the country, governments may either restrict or encourage families to have a certain number of children. Therefore, I partially agree that governments can control population growth to some extent.

Population of a country can be a blessing or a burden. A State with a huge population sometimes struggles to provide basic needs such as housing , food , healthcare. Thus the state can impose restrictions on childbearing to reduce its population for betterment of it’s own citizen. There are many countries, such as China control its population between 1985-2010 because it was the most populous country in the world and t became difficult to maintain economic growth with its enormous population. The policy had a positive impact, as China is now one of the world’s leading economic powers.

However Depopulation also can be a strain for a country. A nation always requires a healthy number people who are capable of working. Many countries for instance Japan, South Korea and many European nations are are facing a shortage of working-age people due to declining birth rates. People of those countries are often reluctant to have children because of the high cost of living and career pressures. Hence, to preserve future of the country ,Authorities can offer subsidies , financial incentives, tax waiver , housing benefits. To families to have more kids.
