Band 6+: Some modern artists receive huge sums of money for the things they create, while others struggle to survive. Governments should take steps to resolve this unfair situation"

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is widely known that numerous artists get an immense amount of money for their art. However, a fact that is often overlooked is that the rest of them, which are not so popular, are always ignored, therefore having to endure challenging financial conditions. This is why I strongly believe that governments should take action and pay more attention to each person that dedicates their time and effort to make pieces of creation.

To start with, it is definitely obvious that several artists are fairly paid for their hard work. No one can deny that they spend months and even years to perfect their creation and to make sure that each tiny detail is not omitted. A wise example can be Leonardo Da Vinci, who is well-known for his astonishing paintings. One of them is the Mona Lisa. Situated in the Louvre, this creation is highly appreciated and visited daily by hundreds of people. It is beyond doubt that the author of this painting deserved each penny for his creativity and performance.

In contrast, it is undeniable that some artists barely dedicate themselves to art, but somehow achieve success in getting money for their work. This suggests the fact that connections are important. People that were born in wealthy families that have considerable influence in several areas tend to take advantage from this and receive attention from everyone. Even though their art is simple and with almost no profound meaning, it is widely appreciated. This is something I consider overly discriminatory and demoralizing for other artists.

Having said that, creators that are often neglected are not faced with just financial problems, but with mental ones ad well. Because of the ignorance they encounter daily, they tend to believe that their work is not good enough. Consequently, they end up abandoning their dreams and regret their decisions for the rest of their life, which can be severely damaging to their mental health. I would suggest that after attending art school or graduating with an art degree, students should be acknowledged by the government and helped in order to become more known and valorised.

To conclude, each person should be appreciated for their pieces of art. This is why I certainly believe that artists should be treated fairly and equally no matter their social or financial status.
