Today everyone uses social media. This causes different opinions about whether it helps friendship or makes it worse.
On the one hand, social media makes it easier to find friends. Young people can meet others who share the same interests, even if they live in different cities or countries. This is important because it helps people feel less lonely and more connected with others. For example, people can join group chats or online communities about music, games, or studying, and they can talk about their hobbies there. As a result, social media can help people to build new friendships and keep in contact with different people.
On the other hand, communication on the Internet can make friendships shallower. People can talk online but rarely meet in real life, so relationships become less deep. This happens because online communication often does not have body language and real emotional expression. For instance, people can misunderstand messages or think someone is not honest, which can make problems in communication. Also, on the Internet it is easy to show a “perfect” version of yourself, which can reduce sincerity.
In my opinion, social media helps people find friends, but real friendship is formed through face-to-face communication and trust in real life.
