Band 8+: Some people argue that technological inventions, such as mobile phones, are making people socially less interactive.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The impact of technological inventions on human relationships has become a contentious issue in modern society. Regarding this, some contend that the increasing use of mobile phones and other digital devices discourages individuals from engaging in face-to-face social interactions. I hold an unwavering conviction that while technology, to some extent, reduces face-to-face communication, it also provides new avenues for building and maintaining relationships.

There are many justifications why technological devices may limit real-life interaction. First of all, individuals often spend excessive time on their smartphones, which distracts them from meaningful conversations with those around them. This habit weakens real emotional bonds since digital communication lacks eye contact, body language and other essential non-verbal cues. Additionally, the convenience of online platforms induces numerous individuals to rely heavily on virtual conversations instead of face-to-face interactions. As a result, individuals may have large a network of online contacts, which provides little in the way of meaningful relationships in real life.

Nonetheless, I firmly believe that technology also enhances social interaction in several pivotal ways. Firstly, mobile phones enable individuals to stay connected across long distances, which is especially beneficial for families or friends living abroad. Specifically, features such as video calling, voice messages and group chats allow individuals to maintain close relationships regardless of geographical barriers. Furthermore, these digital platforms can enable individuals to stay updated with the latest news and events, ensuring that they are informed about what is happening in their social circles.

In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that technological inventions may limit face-to-face interaction, but they also bring meaningful opportunities for connection. It is highly recommended that individuals should use mobile phones mindfully so that technology becomes more valuable for face-to-face communication
