Servicing the needs of the citizens is one of the top priorities for governments. While some people argue that authorities should allocate funding to public services and facilities, others debate that the art field is also of great significance. From my perspective, I agree with the former statement, and I will discuss the reason why the government should prioritize the services over the arts.
To begin with, a civilized society requires the basic needs such as health care, food supply, security, and residence to be fulfilled. These services directly impact the quality of life and well-being of the residents. For example, investing in medical health care would ensure that the population is safe, thus fostering a healthy and productive workforce. Similarly, improving educational facilities aids in fostering knowledgeable and skilled workers, which is essential for a country’s longevity and prosperity.
Moreover, advanced public facilities play a pivotal role in economic development. A country that has a strong and reliable infrastructure attracts international investments, which contributes to national growth and increases capital revenue. Additionally, the development of transportation networks also expands the trading market by facilitating the trade of goods more smoothly, which reduces the delivery time and importing fees.
In conclusion, the government’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the essential needs of its citizens are met. Therefore, I believe that public services and facilities should take precedence in government spending.
