Some individuals believe that children have too much free time, which they often spend on unproductive activities. They argue that this time should be dedicated to schoolwork instead. I agree with this viewpoint because studying is more beneficial and productive for children. This essay will discuss two key reasons: academic tasks enhance their skills, and reducing screen time is crucial for their well-being.
Firstly, engaging in schoolwork helps children develop essential skills and abilities. Teachers often encourage students to complete their assignments, as this reinforces their understanding of subjects. Studying at home during leisure time allows children to retain knowledge effectively. For instance, research indicates that mathematics significantly improves logical thinking and decision-making skills. In Azerbaijan, a specialized arithmetic course was introduced in 2016 to enhance students’ mathematical abilities. As a result, participants in this program demonstrated superior problem-solving skills and broader perspectives compared to their peers.
Secondly, excessive use of smart devices during free time can have detrimental effects on children’s health, particularly their eyesight. Many children spend hours playing mobile games, which increases their risk of developing vision problems. For example, a BBC report states that nearly 900 million people worldwide wear glasses, and a significant portion of them developed eyesight issues due to prolonged smartphone use.
In conclusion, allocating free time to schoolwork benefits children by improving their academic skills and reducing their dependence on digital devices. This approach not only enhances their intellectual development but also protects their health in the long run.
