Environmental protection has become a major concern in many parts of the world. While some people believe that individuals can make a difference through their daily activities, others argue that governments and large businesses have a greater responsibility. In my opinion, both can contribute to protecting the environment, but authorities and companies should take the leading role because of their greater resources and influence.
On the one hand, individuals can help reduce environmental damage through simple changes in their daily lives. Individuals can avoid activities that harm the environment and adopt sustainable alternatives. For example, people can avoid using plastic bags, recycle household waste and use public transportation instead of private cars. These actions can reduce pollution and the amount of waste sent to landfills. Moreover, when a large number of people adopt environmentally friendly habits, the overall impact can be significant. Therefore, individuals should not underestimate their ability to contribute to environmental protection.
On the other hand, I believe that governments and large companies have a greater responsibility because they can make changes on a much larger scale. Governments can introduce strict laws to control air and water pollution, improve public transportation and encourage the use of renewable energy. For example, providing reliable public transport can reduce the number of private vehicles on roads and lower carbon emissions. Similarly, large companies should reduce the waste produced during manufacturing and use environmentally friendly materials. Since businesses often contribute significantly to pollution, they should be required to follow environmental regulations rather than focusing only on making profits.
In conclusion, although individuals can protect the environment by changing their daily habits, I believe that governments and large companies should take greater responsibility. Their ability to introduce regulations and make large-scale changes means that they can have a much greater impact on environmental protection.
