Band 6+: Some people believe that social media sites, such as Facebok or Twitter, have a negative impact on young people and their ability to form personal relationships. Others believe that these sites bring people together in a beneficial way. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

With the advent of modern technology, social networking sites have been increasing massively. This has taught many young people to spend much more time in these applications, interacting with family and friends. Weighing up both sides of the argument, I assume that the benefits of these social media sites outweigh the drawbacks they can cause.

An increasing proportion of the people strongly believe that social media applications have completely ruined the future of university and college students. They claim that these younger pupils waste their precious time in chatting and watching meaningless viral videos which are continuously being posted in the sites mentioned above. The people who argue that younger generations should focus on reading and learning their subjects instead of spending much time meaninglessly include, parents and older people. They assume that the skillset and creativity of the younger generation are completely wasted because of the numerous hours they take in these social media platforms purposelessly.

In other words, many other older people strongly suppose that using modern social media platforms can practically enhance the knowledge and creativity of the teenagers. Having said that, they support that modern generations should be free to create and produce new inventions. Furthermore, they say that children must have the space and time to use technology creatively and purposefully so that they can invent fresh and new innovations that can be utilized by the people who live on our planet.

Considering all these, my own opinion contradicts any idea that restrains and limits the energy of these new generations who are making productive interactions with one another to brightly envision their future prospects.
