There has been much ongoing debate about the effects of watching TV on children. While some individuals argue that the children can be harmed by watching TV in any ways such as wasting time and leading to obesity, I support the idea that watching TV tend to be beneficial for the children’s development for some reasons including being educational and motivational.
The idea of watching TV is hazardous gains the support of many people. The main reason is that watching TV can be wasting time. This is mainly because the children may spend their valuable time for just watching performances, including cartoons and films, which means they may kill their time by TV shows instead of allocating time to their development. Another reason for that watching TV performance may lead to obesity. While we are watching a long-lasting show on television, we are tend to not to move quickly. Consequently, the children will be less physical active. As we know, if humans do not carry out enough physical activities, this occasion leads to overweight.
However, I firmly believe that the benefits of watching TV for children is more significant in comparison. Firstly, TV performances can be educational for children. There are more and more shows on television that usually give an aid for children to learn a new language. There is, for instance, a channel named “Foreign Languages” in Uzbekistan and a lot of children have a chance to pick up a new language by watching entertainments there. The second benefits of watching TV for children is that it can be motivational. There are some shows on TV which prominently share the latest news about education for students. Certainly, if the children watch their peers’ success on screen, the children who saw other’s success on TV will begin to push themselves to their maximum.
In conclusion, I understand why people support the idea of watching TV is detrimental for children due to some reasons such as wasting time and being obese, but I remain convinced that watching TV can be useful in the development of children for some reasons especially in terms of being educational and motivational.
