It is claimed that treating women and men similarly in the recruiting process of military or police forces should be applied. However, others argue that females are less suited for these kinds of occupations. Although both schools of thought hold merit, my personal opinion expresses a stronger alignment with the latter perspective due to the appropriate characteristics for the job which can be found in any genders.
Some people advocate the idea that the army or police force, may not be as optimal options for women as men, and justifiably so. In fact, these kinds of career paths are usually physically demanding and occupationally hazardous. Regarding carrying heavy equipment, such as guns, firearms or bulletproof vests, males’ stamina is often more qualified and fitter for the job. In other cases, being a police officer might require individuals to enforce the laws and physically restraining other people. Consequently, these abilities are conventionally reserved for men, making some people think that involving women in these fields is not a good approach.
However, there are some proponents for the view that candidates of both genders should be fairly treated for these occupations as the inclusion of women could be highly beneficial. In the past, warfare and the tasks of police force primarily relied on sheer forces and intense mental resilience, which were traditionally believed to be suitable for men. Nonetheless, in the contemporary era, these career paths have been significantly altered. That biases towards intelligence, tactical strategizing and making decisions under pressure, which no longer can be obtained not only by men but also by any individuals. As a result, excluding women from the recruiting process to find valid candidates for the military and police forces is an outdated measure and should not be applied.
In conclusion, whether the inclusion of women in the army or police officer is suitable is a topic of debate, I would contend that both men and women are available and should be adopted in roles of these occupations, as the recruitment process should focus on capabilities and performances rather than gender in order to find the best personnels.
