Helping people in need directly is preferred by some categories of people, while on the other hand, there are a group of people who prefer donating to charitable organizations. Personally, I would prefer helping a person in need directly
In our day-to-day lives, we do meet various kinds of people in need. Perhaps it can be at the grocery store, at our workplace, or in our neighbourhood. Lending a helping hand for such people would give us the satisfaction and contentment of giving charity when one sees the smiles and joy, we can witness the positive effect of our actions. This can subsequently, increase one’s tendency towards giving more charity. At the same time, its no doubt that the charity is given actually to the people in need.
On the topic of giving charity to charitable organizations, this would be helpful for people who does not have access or does not know of anyone who is in need. I would like to state myself as an example here; I do have the habit of giving charity on special occasions and every once a week, but when I first moved into Australia, everything was new, I did not know of many people or was not familiar with my neighbourhood. So, to keep up with my weekly habit. I started donating to a local charity organization. Nevertheless, there was a thought that was lingering in my mind throughout, “how credible are they?”, “Doe the money I send reaches the right people?”, “what is it used for?”.
Taking these facts into consideration, my opinion would be that I would try my level best to reach out directly to people in need and help them. Collective charity does have bigger impact, as the credible factor plays a major play, its best to have a good analysis on the organization before donating to them.
