Various factories dominate children’s development. There are two sides of statements arguing which playing a more important to children: parents and television or friends. In this essay, after the discussion of both sides, I will give my personal opinion on the question.
First and foremost, children were born and taught by their parents. At an early age, children mostly rely on their parents to do everything for basic needs, such as going to the toilet or eating. Moreover, with the necessary skills to survive like language and reading words, these have undoubtedly learned from parents before engaging in education as kindergarten. Without parents’ support, children have difficulty developing basic understanding skills and the ability to communication. For example, if children do not possess the concept of language, it is impossible for to them communicate with others, not to mention further analyzing of intricate language structure. Besides, parenting is an essential way to learn what is polite. It plays a significant role in a child’s mental development because it decides their personal characteristic. With lacking consideration about it, children potentially develop the wrong personality, such as they may shout at strangers loudly if they are not satisfied with something, but there should be a better way to solve the problem.
In terms of television, children can broaden their horizons via different types of programs on television, which widely contain music, sports, or geography. It is an opportunity for to children learn more pieces of information about the world by sitting in front of the screen and establishing the goals that they want to pursue. For instance, most well-known NBA superstar started their basketball careers because of Michael Jordan since they watched him on television at in early age. Now they possess a remarkable life or even surpass their expectations in initial childhood. Turning to friends, as they were the same generation, normally they possess similar interests and experiences. It is common for children to acquire empathy and understanding during dealing with peers. Also, it is easy to cultivate a competitive attitude for them, who potentially unconsciously improve themselves by the process of competition. For example, school not only encourages students to learn, but it is also a place where students learn from other classmates via their performance in examinations or discipline, which may be difficult to happen in a home that only lives with parents.
In conclusion, In my opinion, despite friends and television providing countless important benefits to children, I believe that parents play an irreplaceable figure in children’s early age. Without parents, it is afraid that children cannot develop language skills and obtain basic needs for survival.
