Reward is the ultimate factor that motivates the juveniles to grasp every opportunity that comes their way and allows them to aim higher. Some people believe that schools must reward the students who have the best academic results, whereas others believe that students must be rewarded on the basis of their improvements. I will shed some light on both the views ending with my opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.
According to the perspective of some people schools must reward the students on the basis of their academic results, as the purpose of school is to provide education academically people believe that the students who excel in the curricular activities by achieving the desired goals should be awarded for their outstanding performance, which will assist and motivate others to push themselves a step ahead. Rewarding the students on the basis of academic results would lead to the feeling of self satisfaction among the students who tirelessly leaves no stone unturned for the achievement of their desired grades.
Additionally, others believe that it is more significant and convincing to reward the students on the basis of their improvements throughout the year, as It would help the students to estimate where they are lacking and what they must do in order to achieve the desired price. Improvement is the true measure to mark one’s capability and abilities to perform a particular task and excel in it. It bridges the gap between where a student is standing and where he or she wants to reach in the potential future.Rewarding on the basis of improvements would also contribute towards self- development of an individual as it tends to provide broader view regarding one’s irrelevancy.
In my opinion, schools should reward the students on the basis of both exemplary academic results and significant improvements as outstanding results would motivate the students to aim beyond limits whereas improvements are driven by correcting the past mistakes as well as taking the future decisions based on past experiences.
To conclude,people tend to have different perspectives based on their thinking process, experiences and requirements, however the decision of rewarding the students either on the basis of improvements or academic results is the very choice of the academic institutions based on their organisational goals and purpose depending upon the diversity of students.
