People debate whether governments need to allocate a budget for education and healthcare services. Even though there might be some drawbacks to it, I believe that governments covering the expenses of these basic needs would be beneficial.
On the one hand, governments not providing financial support for education and healthcare could yield benefits, such as individuals feeling more responsible, increased competition between the private and public sectors, and savings in the national budget. Firstly, if governments allow individuals to pay for their basic needs, it may foster a sense of responsibility and ownership, as individuals would need to earn more money to afford services. Secondly, private schools and clinics might provide better and more efficient services if there is healthy competition between the private and public sectors, rather than government services dominating the market. For example, people may opt to give their children to private schools if they offer better services, even if the costs are higher than public schools. Lastly, if governments start covering all the expenses of the population’s health and education-related services, it might increase taxes for people, as governments would need a larger budget to provide funding for these services.
On the other hand, there might be more important aspects of governments allocating a budget for those services, such as social equality of individuals, a healthier and more productive community, better living environment. As we all know not every individual can afford their healthcare and education expenditures, governments should consider providing a budget for such people since every person should be socially equal regardless of their financial and social status. Also, as more people in the country are healthy, the more productive it is for the country’s economy since people would be more efficient and socially active. These acts of help may create a better living environment with a healthier and more intelligent community.
In conclusion, I argue that the advantages of governments paying for healthcare and education would outweigh the disadvantages.
