It is sometimes argued that high school students do not need to study art subjects. I completely agree with this view.
One reason I believe that it is not necessary for high school students to study art subjects is that not every student is interested in this kind of course. People have different hobbies and interests, and art is just one example. Forcing students to learn about art may cause negative effects or increase stress. For instance, I am not particularly interested in painting or drawing, and I am certain that I will not choose an art-related career in the future. As a result, I believe that learning art subjects is a waste of time for students who are not fascinated by the field.
Another reason why art courses should not be made compulsory for high school students is that there are various clubs available for senior students. It is common for students at this age to join clubs in school. These clubs help students pursue what they love and connect with others who share similar interests. Consequently, students can focus on activities they are passionate about or dedicate more time to their studies. For example, if students want to practice their art skills, they can join an art club or attend specialized art schools outside of their regular curriculum.
In conclusion, I do not think it is important to make art subjects compulsory for high school students. Given their diverse interests and the availability of clubs and extracurricular activities, students who are passionate about art can still pursue it without it being a mandatory part of their education.
