In an attempt to make the towns and cities appealing venues for people, it is widely considered that investments should be directed towards public works of art. Many people think that the government should make more investments in the works of art, such as paintings, statues, to display them in the city centers. However, I strongly disagree with this notion because art works no longer hold wide public interest, instead, the government should prioritize green spaces in urban settings, that would definitely attract people.
On one hand, the concept of art installations in the city centers are no longer of an interest of the people. To be precise, young generations are more engrossed in technologies and education that simply result in fewer admissions to the art venues, which is why making investments in the field of art is less attracting. As for the elderly, a good number of them are simply occupied with other tasks, such as looking after their family and in some cases restoring their physical mobility. Although there might be a small circle of people who are fascinated by art works, the funding of art works is still not preferable as there are other alternatives that can easily attract people.
On the other hand, there are some alternatives to art works, that would definitely be appealing for people. In the last decades, due to the urbanization of our cities, there are fewer urban parks for the general public. Implementing more urban greenery in the city centers is of great importance in attracting people, because it has become one of the main requirements for people. Due to the transportation and construction works in the towns, there is a declining quality of air, making it difficult for some people to unwind in the city itself. Therefore, implementing green spaces seems to be preferable investment, that would definitely result in the welfare of the nation.
In conclusion, although there are still individuals who appreciate artworks, the investment of green spaces is a more practical and beneficial choice. Such investments would not only attract more people but also contribute to a healthier and more vibrant urban environment.
