Some people believe families have the biggest impact on their children while other claim that aspects such as friends and television affect their development the most. I personally agree with the latter idea.
Individuals think that family is the most important influence on children’s behavior, the way of thinking and academic performance for a reason. When young people spend much time with their parents, they are more likely to adopt everything they do as a habit. As a result, efforts to imitate them and copy their manners, conversations, and the way of doing anything become a part of their life. For example, children grown around a certain group of people have their own behavior, judgment, and achievements, compared to those who were in different places with numerous types of adults. Another remarkable reason is that parents use various methods of teaching their children, even if kids have to be punished, which leads to discipline and responsibility.
However, social environment has more effect on young people. As children grow older, they try to be similar to their friends rather than their parents. Teenagers who are often around close friends get their humor and mindset automatically. Moreover, they can face many situations such as parties, concerts, and other entertainments, allowing each other to do the same. For instance, studies found that people from one group of friends are similar in behavior, talking, and laughing, making this relationship more competitive. Social media and television, in particular, develop their values, mindset, and attention, which is one of the important aspects of children’s personal development.
In conclusion, both family and friends are responsible for children’s development through their actions. However, I believe that the social environment has a huge impact on young people.
