A number of people believe parents have a strong effect on children, while others consider the media having greater influence. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinion about parents having more impact on children than the media.

To begin with, there are numerous reasons explaining the former notion. First and foremost, parents are the closest figures for children to follow. Throughout the daily basis, children are constantly exposed to the behaviors and activities from adults, thus forming a similar mindset and trying to imitate what their parents do. Secondly, parents also play an important role in teaching children about different aspects of life. Adults are experienced in numerous situations and social problems, thereby making them a great source of knowledge for children to learn. Moreover, they can also help children avoid mishaps and find ways to achieve the best outcomes.

On the other hand, the influence of the media also needs to be taken into consideration. Notably, children easily believe different types of information, even if it is false or unethical. Inadequate knowledge combined with unlimited access to the Internet can make these contents become persuasive and attractive during first-hand exposure, creating a misleading belief to children. For example, online videos delineating aggressive and licentious demeanors can be seamlessly mimicked, thereby affecting their normal development. Therefore, many people contend that the media can influence children profoundly.

In the end, both views about parents and the media hold plausible points. Personally, I am inclined to the former belief because of the importance of parents and their role during the development of children are
