Most of people believe that applying of scientific finding to the yields, could improve the growth of it, while others think that traditional growing methods are safe for the human health and the environment. This essay will discuss on both scenarios while providing more evidences to the scientific techniques over natural procedure.
One significant advantage of using scientific techniques in cultivation is to introduce new varieties of existing crops, which leads to increase the production in minimum time duration. For instance, a natural coconut tree takes more than 5 years to bloom after reaching to sky. But when technology is added to it, shorter trees would give bigger coconuts to pluck within 2 years of time. Other than manufacturing artificial chemical fertilizers to boost the growth, scientific techniques have focused on changing genetic structures of the plants to improve the growth and to form hybrid plant varieties in health manner. Moreover, these help in controlling pests and weeds to project the plant from dangers. Finally, modern technology protects farmers from having financial losses, while issuing sufficient quantities to the market without any shortage.
On the other hand, people can assume that, naturally grown plants are more healthier than plants used chemicals, but nutrient content of it may be higher than naturally grown plants. Furthermore, people do farming to make money, but with natural traditional methods, they cannot gain the expected income at the end of the day. Even in household gardening, individuals prefer having low height trees with quick harvest, which is impossible with natural methods.
In conclusion, even though using scientific methods have drawbacks, people prefer having more harvest within a short period of time. People can reduce the usage of chemicals by using them only for requirement, while increasing the productivity.
