Band 6+: some people think that students should wear uniforms at school, while others believe that student should be free to wear whatever they want. Discuss both views and give your opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is widely argued that putting uniforms on at school is necessary. Meanwhile, others thought that learners should have the freedom to dress as they prefer. I agree completely with this first view.

To begin with, there are several significant advantages to students wearing uniforms in school for a variety of important reasons.Firstly, uniforms help create equality by hiding economic differences. In Bangladesh, students come from diverse financial backgrounds, and uniforms ensure that no one feels excluded due to their clothing. This is particularly beneficial in public schools. Secondly, uniforms reduce distractions from fashion, letting students focus more on studying. Schools in Bangladesh have found that when students wear uniforms, they are less concerned about their appearance and focus more on their lessons. In short, uniforms help students focus and feel equal at school.

There are several reasons why the requirement to wear uniforms in schools can be problematic. One significant issue is that uniforms restrict students’ ability to express their individuality through clothing. In Bangladesh, for instance, many students would prefer to wear outfits that reflect their personal style or cultural background. However, uniforms prevent them from doing so. Moreover, uniforms can be uncomfortable, particularly during extreme weather conditions. In the hot summers of Bangladesh, wearing full-sleeve uniforms can lead to discomfort, while in the winter months, they may fail to provide adequate warmth. As a result, students may experience both physical discomfort and limitations in self-expression due to the uniform policy.

In conclusion, the imposition of school uniforms presents challenges related to both comfort and individuality, which should be carefully considered.
